Busy Saturday at the races

There are days when there is just too much racing and you canot see the wood for the trees. As such, up late and after a relaxing morning in bed (cooked a fantastic meal last night of cod in parsley sauce, with asparagus and new potato's - all my own work and from fridge to plate in 25 mins), I'm not going to attempt to review the day's racing.

That's not to say there are not any runners today that don't catch my eye. At Newbury in the 4:15 FLOTATION @ 11/2 seems to have escaped notice, yet he's a winner at this trip (made all, so no stamina doubts) and is likely to handle the going and his breeding suggests there's more to come. In the 3:05 SHAKESPEAREAN would be 3/1 fav but for his latest run, and still looks the one they have to beat in this as Suroor has his stable hitting top form.

At Newmarket, if BATED BREATH goes for the 3:20 then take note. This horse is potentially a Group 3 horse already and I reckon it's already shown form worthy of a OR115 rating. However, the rain-softened going is a problem.

I'm not really a sprint-race tipster, but if FAVOURITE GIRL takes the Great St Wilfred at Ripon and in doing so wins her 5th start in 6 races then I think I'll start looking at sprints in more depth, as I spotted her back in April as having great potential before she'd won her 1st race this season.

I'll be back here on Monday. There's plenty to read on this blog, and I'd be especially pleased to have some comment about my Cheltenham Reviews and any thoughts of the coming jumps season.
