There was a good meeting at Perth which provided some good opportunities, especially for followers of Irish trainer Gordon Elliot. He sent over 4 horses, and 3 of them won. Altho' I didn't recommend it, I managed to get 9/2 about his winner CASTLETOWN BRIDGE.
I've been going thru' my horse alert list which I've carried over from last season, taking out a few who haven't gone forward or have been caught by the handicapper, and adding a couple of others. The list threw up a couple of selections yesterday, including the 7/1 winner AHYAKNOWYERSELF. This horse had been on my alert list since running 2nd at Ffos Las on 14th October last year. He quickly followed that run up with a win later in the month after which he was off the track for a year. Brought back with a "pipe-opener" at Stratford on the 7th September, he was well primed for the run yesterday and looked a well handicapped horse winning easily from his stable companion Orthodox Lad.
Make sure you note any runners from trainer Dr Richard Newland who clearly has his horses fit and ready to run at this stage of the season.
The plan is to start writing a regular blog from the 1st November. This season, I'm also going to be writing a blog for the website Gallops Live, mainly to give me exposure to a wider audience.
During the summer I've started writing another occasional blog for the benefit of those who may be operating their own SIPP (Self Invested Pension Plan) Pension Builder by Wayward Lad. I'm not a financial advisor and make no secret of that fact. The reason for writing the blog is the same as the basic reason for writing this horseracing blog - to improve my selection process. If you are interested, take a look and leave a comment. There is a dearth of information for independent pension investors on the internet; most of what I read is "promoted" by others hoping to earn a commission on the back of what they write. My opinion is that the Stock Market and pensions are not something anyone should be intimidated by, it is not a black art, and there is plenty of scope to improve the value of your pension plan with sensible decisions.
